The most wonderful time of the year has arrived! But not only because of the gifts, there is something so magical about this time of year! I’m such a nostalgic person so I guess it gets me every time. I love to make the ones I love feel special and find love things they will really love! In my opinion, the best kind of gifts are those little thoughtful ones, so I thought I would put together some of my favourite things! Most of them make great stocking stuffers and the best part is they are all under $50! Stay tuned for more holiday posts to come!
We originally had some beautiful photos taken as a wedding gift from a talented family friend immediately after we got engaged. Since we knew we would have an extended engagement, I was just excited to do something wedding related! Now that the big day is only a year away and we are in full planning mode, I wanted to send out a save the date. I was regretting our location and fashion choices for what I had in mind though. The very sweet and talented Chloe of Chloe Buie Photography, who I worked with on her amazing styled shoot Back in the Spring, so graciously offered to do some photos for me! I jumped at the chance to have her take some of Tyler and I. We are beyond thrilled with how they turned out and I am so excited to share them with you! There were so many gorgeous photos to choose from, these are a few of my favourites!
I decided to share some of my tips for anyone who is planning their own engagement photos! I am no expert when it comes to wedding planning, but based on my experience, the biggest piece of advice I can offer is to choose either a location that has significant meaning to you or one that reflects you as a couple. This way you won’t have any regrets! This goes for your fashion choices as well!
Like I mentioned above, I picked our outfits and location on some trendy pins I found at the time. Since we had a three year period between then and now, our tastes and current trends have changed so much. I wish I would have known to keep things a little more simple and in tune to what we truly love. Since we are having a summer wedding I wanted our photos to reflect that as well, where as our first set of photos were in the Fall. This completely changed what I had in mind for the look of our outfits. I wanted them to be simple, airy and romantic, kind of like what we have planned for the wedding! I really have tried to focus on timeless choices that we would never tire of. Hence why we decided to keep the details simple and colour palette light and in tune with our wedding theme.
We decided to have our photos taken at the ceremony location. It’s gorgeous and I thought it would make the memories even more special for us. Plus it gave us a chance to check out the space first hand and all of the areas for photos on the wedding day. The best lighting in certain spots at certain times and a chance to see what worked and what didn’t! This also reminds me, I had no idea that typically an engagement shoot is included with your wedding package! Although each vendor can be different, most of the ones I seen were similar in this way. This offers a chance to get comfortable with your photographer and find out what you love for your wedding photos!
Lastly, be prepared! Order any props or online purchases at least a month or two in advance to ensure they are available and arrive in time. Also, find examples of photos that you have in mind. Even if you don’t want to copy them, this will give your photographer an idea of the feel you want for your own! I’ll be sharing more wedding planning tips as we go so check back. If you have any questions or suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Well it is officially Fall now and I have been MIA planning our wedding and engagement photos! Let me tell you, there is a reason wedding planning is a full time job! With everything coming together I finally found some time to share my staples for the season right now. I have been very into mixing neutrals and what I like to call the new neutral, blush! It feels so feminine and is so versatile. My favourite way to incorporate Fall accessories into my wardrobe is with a scarf, they will make any outfit instantly cozy. I am so happy to see some similar trends this year with jacquard, checkered and striped styles in stores! I have linked a few similar styles to my outfit above.
I am fully taking advantage of the warm weather any time I have a chance these days so I have been relaxing in most of my spare time! That means putting on something that is cute and comfy. The striped shirt is a staple to any girls wardrobe, this one is perfect. It has a lower cut back, they called it a ballerina style shirt, which I love! With cut-offs this is a pretty casual outfit, but add a floppy hat and some cute accessories and your good to go! Also, I adore Joe Fresh sandals, they are super comfy, go with everything and are such a great price!! And for jewelry, lately I have been pretty simple, I love layering bracelets and dainty chains! Have a great weekend everyone!
One of my absolute favourite features of our home is the porch! I have been waiting for what feels like forever to style the area! I knew I wanted it to feel really cozy and comfortable, like our home except well, outdoors. I went with the usual neutral pallet of greige, white, beige with black details. Plus lots of whimsical flowers! I do not have much experience putting outdoor flowers together, but I was so happy with how these turned out!!! We are thinking of adding another whicker chair so we can fit one more! I have already gotten so much use out of our porch and seriously cannot wait for more summer fun in my little outdoor sanctuary! Happy weekend everyone! I hope I could help give you some inspiration for your outdoor space!

Summer weather was in full effect for the long weekend, so we decided to head out camping with family in Mossleigh! It was such a cute little settlement that now serves as a campground. When you grow up in Alberta, there is nothing like being in the beautiful prairies and sunshine! I found this lace lined dress that was perfectly cute and comfortable for summer. I realized I tend to throw on my favourite jean jacket, hat and sandals with almost everything..whoops! I kept accessories minimal but this pretty pearl bracelet completed this look!
My favourite look period is one I feel super comfortable in plus still looks cute and put together! The best way to do this? Comfy boyfriend jeans and a cute tunic work just great! Throw on a great summer fedora and some chic accessories and your ready to go. I love this style of bag, everything is easily accessible and carefree. Finally, I love a good pair of embellished sandals for summer, these have a pearl detail that is adorable and at an affordable price! Thank you for reading! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
It is such a special bond that we share with our mommas, they do so much for everyone so I love a whole day celebrating and thanking them for everything! I had a great day doing what we love most.. shopping! There were some super cute pop up shops of some of my favourite spots in Calgary set up in Holt Renfrew for the special day so we stopped by for tea, macarons and blooms! It was all too cute not share!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day!
I love the message behind She Is Clothing with apparel that takes an excerpt from one of my favourite proverbs.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:25
It made me think about what it truly means to be strong and I believe the strongest people are the kindest. Because it takes true strength to be kind and to be positive about our future no matter what obstacles we may fear. This verse always uplifts me when I need reassurance so naturally I fell in love with this black and white tee. I think that this is such a fun way to stay inspired! Plus display it in a cute and stylish way.
We had some beautiful weather for a moment so I sprung at the chance to wear my new t-shirt and throw on some heels! I wanted to dress mine up a bit but add a few girly touches! I went with some pink accents, a bold fuchsia lip, glamorous sunnies and this gorgeous statement necklace that I have been wearing with just about anything I can. I decided to pair the tee with a textured and fitted blazer to add some shape. Last but not least, to keep things casual, it was a Saturday after all, I wore a comfy pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. PS – I later threw on a summer hat, some leopard flats and a cardigan which worked just fine too! I have linked as many original items as I could or ones that are similar.
Thank you for reading! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, beautiful weather and lovely times!
PPS – Remember to be kind to one another!
I had really wanted to share my cute Easter cupcakes, but sadly didn’t get around to it! The fiancé has wanted some banana bread for a while now so I pulled out my favourite recipe from Company’s Coming. I love having fresh baked goods in the house for breakfast!
COMPANY’S COMING BANANA BREAD
1/2 CUP BUTTER – SOFTENED
1 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR
3 MASHED RIPE BANANAS
2 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
1 TSP BAKING SODA
1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1/2 TSP SALT
1 CUP WALNUTS (OPTIONAL)
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth. Blend in mashed bananas. In second bowl, stir flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts. Add to banana mixture stirring only to moisten. Transfer to greaded loaf pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove from pan and place on cake rack to cool. Wrap to store.
