I had really wanted to share my cute Easter cupcakes, but sadly didn’t get around to it! The fiancé has wanted some banana bread for a while now so I pulled out my favourite recipe from Company’s Coming. I love having fresh baked goods in the house for breakfast!

COMPANY’S COMING BANANA BREAD
Ingredients
1/2 CUP BUTTER – SOFTENED
1 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR
2 EGGS
3 MASHED RIPE BANANAS
2 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
1 TSP BAKING SODA
1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1/2 TSP SALT
1 CUP WALNUTS (OPTIONAL)

Directions
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth. Blend in mashed bananas. In second bowl, stir flour with baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts. Add to banana mixture stirring only to moisten. Transfer to greaded loaf pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove from pan and place on cake rack to cool. Wrap to store.

Happy Easter weekend! I hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend! I love creating traditions in our home for this holiday. Easter always reminds me of Spring time and how pretty it is! I also happen to love a good waffle and mimosa tray – complete with some cute straws! We picked up some pussy willows and fresh blooms that really made it feel like Spring, plus they smell amazing!!! Have a great Easter with those who mean the most to you today. And maybe indulge with a few mimosas and some mini eggs!

Spring has sprung! Technically speaking. Literally? Not so much. The weather has been a little less than desirable here, but that’s typical for Calgary. Luckily there have been a few beautiful days to enjoy so I took full advantage and threw on my new favourite pink jeans! It really got me excited for Spring and all the pretty blooms that come with it. I added a few of my favourite basics and headed out for lunch! I hope everyone is enjoying some great weather with family and friends too! I linked what I wore and some similar items below.

Since Spring is in the air, okay only kind of, but I was feeling inspired to try out some fun new beauty for the upcoming season! First off, I wanted a fresh scent that was fruity and floral, this one smells delicious. I loved adding a few new lip colours to my beauty routine and I honestly cannot stop wearing any of these!
From the gorgeous bright plum shade, totally inspired from The Bachelor #teamkaitlyn, to the amazingly hydrating rose shades! Also, it wouldn’t feel like sandal weather until you have a pretty pink pedicure and manicure so I included my favourite shades for the season. Lastly I love dewy and hydrated skin to help
combat dry weather skin. I love these picks to achieve the look!

office décor

Hello! Finally sharing our finished office space (what does finished even mean though?!) today which feels so great! Decorating for me is kind of an organic experience. I definitely would rather take my time and wait until inspiration strikes if I’m stumped for creativity in a space! I apologize for the photo quality – I definitely need to invest in a professional camera, but these will have to do for now!

I really wanted my soon to be hubby to feel comfortable in the space so I resisted from making it too girly. I usually will add a few elements to do this like greenery and texture with darker furniture and accents. I love black and white décor right now so I continued that theme throughout the space. I had found the yellow pillow and instantly fell in love so also decided to add a few accents with this theme too. Plus you can’t forget the metallic accents, I typically stick to silver in most of our home, so I decided to have elements of both in this space.

Our gallery wall was something I was so excited about. Tyler had a print from a previous trip to Hawaii and picture from our recent trip to Jamaica that he wanted to incorporate! The shelf styling is purely décor items that I love and have tried to make them work together. Every time I find a new piece that I love I try it all over the house until I find the perfect place for it, but if I don’t I will spend hours trying to make it fit in with the shelf décor. Remember that shopping your own home can be fun too! I tried to add as many sources as I could think of! Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy LOVE Day everyone! I love Valentine beauty, mostly because it’s an excuse to wear all of the prettiest shades of pink and red! Looking back I realized I didn’t include a lot of reds! Luckily I had already shared this post with my favourite reds so I stuck with my pink picks. My favourite flirty look for V-Day is a pink or red lip, flirty lashes and cheeks with a bold brow! I have been loving this Chloe perfume, it is so feminine, which is perfect for this day. And since it’s the day of love I included a few extras to keep your pout in perfect shape! Finally, the perfect pink shades of polish for your night out, not to mention their names are perfect for Valentines Day!

After recently sharing my favourites for enjoying a bubble bath night in, I thought I would share just a little update of my bathroom décor! I added a few baskets to organize and some pink hand towels that I scored from Homesense recently. I love the way it turned out and hope this gives you some inspiration on how you can update a space with just a few items!

the DIY manicure

manicure | www.ohhellolovely.commanicure | www.ohhellolovely.comI wanted to share some tips on how I master the at-home manicure! Like I have mentioned in the past, I had decided to take a break from nail tips almost six years ago now. I loved how strong the acrylic made my nails and how polished they always looked. But the damaging effects started to show when it wouldn’t take anymore. My salon suggested taking a break so that’s what I did! I still wanted my nails to look polished but I couldn’t justify the weekly costs of a manicure. I invested in the supplies to do it myself and was so happy with the results. This doesn’t mean I don’t treat myself to some pampering every once in a while, but it makes it more affordable between appointments! Take a look at my tips and do a little at-home pampering this weekend!

Step 1 – Remove any old polish from nails
Step 2 – Cut and file nails to your desired length and shape – keep in mind if your nails break easily a rounded tip or edges are less likely to
Step 3 – Soak nails to soften cuticles and/or massage cuticle cream directly onto cuticle/around nail bed
Step 4 – Use one end of the cuticle pusher tool clean under the tips of your nails. Use the other end of the tool to push back cuticle (the curve should match the curve in your nail) – I find its best to use a brisk motion to do this step
Step 5 – Use the cutter/nipper tool to clean up cuticle, hang nails or dead skin around the nail bed
Step 6 – Buff nail (you should follow the grain of the nail ie. vertically)
Step 7 – Massage cuticle oil to finger tips – if I have none around I substitute with Moroccan Oil!
Step 8 – Wash and dry hands thoroughly to make sure your nails are dried off before applying your basecoat – this will help your polish last longer, go on smoothly and protect them from staining with darker polishes
Step 9 – Shake and apply polish! I usually start by dabbing a blob of polish near the bottom center of my nail where I want the colour to start. I brush a very thin coat up the middle and then brush the colour up each side of my nail. I let them dry for a few seconds between coats to avoid any bubbling. I repeat the same steps until I’m happy with the coverage and colour! Lighter colours can end up looking streaky some of the time so I usually wear about 3 coats of polish with these.
Step 10 – If you want to add glitter or any decoration to nail, here is where you want to do it! I usually like to let my nail dry a little (they should feel tacky), before applying my top coat. This ensures you don’t brush away any of the colour. A topcoat will step will prevent chipping and give your desired finish whether it be matte or shine. Let your nails dry thoroughly, clean up any product outside of your nail bed and your done!
